2019 was, once again, an incredibly busy year for Session, with both the new 5-piece band and the acoustic trio performing at some fantastic weddings and events!
We have been really lucky to have visited some beautiful venues and meet some wonderful people over the 19 years we have been performing together, and 2019 was absolutely no different.
The first few months of the year were spent integrating new singer Fay to the line-up, adding new songs and working out new harmonies. We also loved getting out and performing as an acoustic trio throughout January and February. The trio is the perfect accompaniment for a chilled out festival-themed wedding or event.
March and April saw the filming of our new promotional video. We had such fun putting it together and were so excited to release it (watch it here!). It currently has over 14000 views and has been a brilliant way to show what the band looks and sounds like live at a wedding, party or corporate event. Did we ever mention that we perform 100% live? We pride ourselves on not using backing tracks to enhance our sound… we simply don’t need to!
We were all really enthusiastic to start performing with Fay as a full band, and so we just couldn’t wait to perform at Spiros St Peter’s Church in Cardiff in May. This was our first performance as a live 5-piece function band and we could not have had a better reception; a full dance floor from the moment we started playing and many lovely compliments on the look and sound of new line-up followed! The hard work was all worthwhile.
Another busy summer season performing at weddings and corporate events saw us perform at some beautiful familiar venues – Coed-Y-Mwstwr, Llanerch Vineyard, Miskin Manor, Canada Lake and Lodge, Pencoed House Estate, St David’s Hotel, The Vale Hotel and Celtic Manor Resort all in South Wales, to name just a few.
The year ended with a local performance at the impressive Paget Rooms in Penarth near Cardiff, where we got to witness the most magical Christmas wedding at an extremely iconic venue. Previous performers include Tom Jones, The Beatles and The Who!
A huge thank you to all the wedding and event suppliers, coordinators and venues who have looked after us so well this year, and a very Happy New Year to all our lovely past and future clients.
See you on the dancefloor!
