Next up in this ‘Meet The Band’ series we have bassist and coffee lover, Andrew!
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’ve been a full-time musician for the past 12 years. First started playing bass in high school aged 13. I went on to study music performance at both college and university, then going on to complete a PGCE at Cardiff University where I lectured at Cardiff & Vale College for a year.
Who are your biggest musical influences?
So many! My all time favourite artists are; Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Crosby Stills & Nash, Paul Simon, The Who, Steely Dan. Peter Gabriel. There are many more!
Funniest/craziest Session moment?
Again so many!
But my very first Session Wedding stands out. We played in the Cardiff & Vale Hotel during the 2012 Olympics and the whole Trinidad & Tobago Olympic team, were staying at the hotel and joined in the Wedding party and danced the night away!
What made you decide to join Session?
I’d recently graduated from University and I was looking for a top quality Wedding & Corporate band to commit to, luckily Session needed a bass player and after seeing my play a couple times they asked me to join.
What is your favourite thing about being in Session?
Without a doubt it’s the people. The whole session crew have become like a family to me over the years. Feel very lucky to get to work with my friends.
What is your proudest musical accomplishment?
Getting to play on the BBC Music Introducing Stage at Glastonbury with my band Afro Cluster probably up there.
What is your biggest fear?
Spiders and missing the buffet at Weddings.
What motivates you to work hard?
Always wanting to better myself and seeing others putting in the same effort as you, all about the team goals!
What is your favourite book to read?
On The Road – Jack Kerouac
Travels With Charley – John Steinbeck
Brave New World – Aldous Huxley
All the Harry Potter’s!
What did you want to be when you were small?

Taste wine at French vineyard.
