Penarth Summer Festival

Includes RAF and RNLI displays, Downhill Derby, clifftop artists, Funfair rides and fireworks all taking place on Carnival Day (Saturday 14th July), plus plenty more besides throughout the Festival, all for all ages.
The festival will culminate in a live performance on the promenade by the outstanding ‘Session’ returning to their home turf after taking the UK wedding and events scene by storm. One not to be missed!

Wedding Entertainment Survey - Very Interesting

•Some very interesting post-wedding survey results here, as featured in Bride & Groom Magazine: 
•72% of all brides say they would have spent more time choosing their reception entertainment  
•Almost 100% say they would have spent more of their budget on the entertainment.  
•During wedding planning, Brides say their highest priority is their attire, followed by the reception site and caterer - reception entertainment is among the least of their priorities. 
•Within one week after their reception, 78% of Brides say they would have made the entertainment their highest priority! 
• When asked 81% of guests say the thing they remember most about a wedding is the entertainment.

Promotional Video Shoot Underway

After months of preparation, and a monumental amount of planning, the shoot for the new Session video took place during the first weekend of April. Directed by Pete James from EngageDVDs, with help from highly-regarded wedding photographer Adrian Thomas, the video shows us perform a selection of songs from our set and features each of our three package setups. The video also shows off our brand-new LED backdrop, which comes as standard in our Platinum package, and as an optional extra in our Gold and Silver packages. The video is due for release within the next Month... watch this space!!

Session - Doing Thier Bit For Wales

March saw Session return to the popular St. Davids Hotel, Cardiff - with yet another (see previous news item re. Stereophonics) celebrity tale to tell the grandkids.

Session arrived at the prestigious St. David's Hotel complete with brand new super long, super high van, parking directly outside the front doors of the hotel in the usual unobtrusive fashion. However it wasn't long before the band were confronted with a large and very scary looking security guard; "Excuse me.... I'm afraid you're going to have to move your van.... we have some very important guests arriving in the next few minutes"....

Having loaded our Gold Package equipment into the lobby, and having many guesses as to who the mystery guests could be (The Queen, perhaps? Kate & Wills checking out venues?) we were met with a stream of England football players, who were staying at the hotel in preparation for their game against Wales at the Millennium Stadium.

In the hope that Ashley Cole would hear Session and consider us for his next wedding (or divorce party, remember Session are perfect for ANY event!), the band played to their normal high standard, perhaps taking the mixer up a few notches so that the team could hear every perfect note played.... ;-)

Fast forward to midnight, and over bustles a flustered night manager informing us that they have had complaints from "very important guests"! Thank goodness to a very understanding couple who agreed to turn the music off slightly earlier than expected and saved the bacon of one very panicked night manager! Unfortunately, we did not keep the team up late enough as the following day England comfortably beat Wales 2-0 (It could well have been 4-0 if it were not for us...)

Disappointingly , Ashley didn't come and ask for a Session business card, however it's now been heard on the Grapevine that Wayne Rooney will be attending the next Session club gig as he makes the most of the free time he's got over the next few weeks.... it is his age-range after all *cough* ;-)

Record Bookings for 2011

Despite concern earlier in the year regarding the recent economic problems, 2010 has been Session's strongest to date, with the popular wedding & function band playing up to four events a week during the Summer wedding season. Next year looks to be no different, with ten confirmed weddings just weeks after opening the diary for bookings. Said lead singer Cameron Stewart, "With many people taking advantage of our early booking discount offer, key dates are going fast. We recommend interested couples to contact us for rights of first refusal."

In between performing, the band have been busy working on new promotional materiel, along with a series of informative videos, which go through the finer details regarding the various package options, set-list and additional services such as PA hire.

Session Meet The Stereophonics

After a recent performance at the prestigious St. David’s Hotel in Cardiff, Session had the pleasure of meeting the Stereophonics. The Stereophonics were great company and highly complementary of Session’s set. Session were invited to join the band for drinks at their after show party after they had triumphantly played their own memorable gig that night... at the Cardiff City Stadium in front of 30,000 adoring fans!!

I daren’t tell Kelly he plays Dakota wrong... ;-)

2010 Promotional Video Released!

The much anticipated 2010 Session promotional video has now been released! Featuring the song ‘Chasing Cars’, the video shows the band performing at a wedding in late 2009 in Canada Lodge, Cardiff.

New 2010 Demo In Production

In January 2010 Session return to the studio to record another demo CD, this time with a highly polished studio feel. The tracks to be recorded are: Sweet Home Alabama, Sex On Fire, Dakota and Mustang Sally. Session feel that these songs will help to demonstrate, yet again, their fantastic ability to cover songs from many decades and musical genres.

Session would like to wish all clients past and present a very happy new year!

We played out 2009 in style, at a fantastic wedding over in Miskin Manor, Cardiff.... wow what a night!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Richard, Suzanne and all of the guests who made us feel so welcome and invited us to join the party after our set.

With the holiday period now over, we now have a chance to further expand our song-list, update the website and organise several public showcase gigs for 2010.

We are now taking wedding and function bookings for all of 2010. We are experiencing an exceptionally high volume of enquires at the moment, so make sure you contact us soon if you are interested in booking Session, especially over the popular summer months of June, July and August!

We also offer work experience placements for enthusiastic, motivated students (18+). As well as gaining valuable knowledge on audio visual engineering, your food, drink and expenses are all covered!
